Hi! My name is Josh Innerst. I'm an actor and Earphones Award winning audiobook narrator with 120+ titles under my belt. After 20 years working in classical theatre, I embraced life in-the-booth as a narrator and haven't looked back. The opportunity to tackle complex language with empathy and understanding while honoring the author's intent, is what continues to attract me to this work. About My WorkI'm an actor and Earphones Award winning audiobook narrator currently based in the midwest. With 120+ titles under my belt, my performances range from stories full of colorful characters to research heavy non-fiction.
I have an extensive classical theater background of 20+ years, spending several as a resident company member at the American Shakespeare Center. A life steeped in literary analysis and a deep understanding of story arc and character point-of-view has laid the foundation for a rewarding voice acting career. I’m drawn to projects that feature a dynamic and diverse cast of characters, yet are balanced with a wry sense of humor. After years performing on the road, narration allows me to stay connected with my family while also tackling complex language with empathy and understanding. I love being a conduit for author intent. This commitment to imagination and authentic communication shapes listeners’ experiences wherever my storytelling finds them. |
When I'm not in the booth. . .In addition to audiobook narration, I stay active with commercial VO and on-camera work. Recent film credits include THE ALTO KNIGHTS with Robert DeNiro and OVERHILL MANOR with John Rhys-Davies.
I am represented by The Docherty Agency for Film/TV, commercial, and modeling work. I also produce and engineer titles directly for Indie Authors on various distribution platforms. I've taught Shakespeare & Performance at Oberlin College & Conservatory as well as text analysis, stage craft, and sword play workshops at theatre companies all across the country. I love nothing more than spending time in the kitchen with my wife, walking my dogs, or putzing in the garden! |
